3331 Arts Chiyoda Info and Link

Gallery info update, ThreeA, September 2015.

http://www.timeout.jp/en/tokyo/venue/2640/3331-Arts-Chiyoda

Merry Christmas! December Update.

Another year almost over and with 2015 just around the corner we have some dates to announce. In April Ash will be exhibiting all over again at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in Chelsea, New York. Last time was an amazing experience and so we're coming back! For updates on works in progress and the show in general please follow Ash on Instagram (ashleywoodart).

I may also be jumping the gun a little, (as we've just signed!) but ThreeA is also holding a major show in Akihabara, Japan in September 2015. The gallery complex used to be a school, we've booked the whole place including the restaurant so pencil this one in on your 2015 must see schedule. This show will be in much the same vein as previous ThreeA Venture shows but bigger! Keep up with any and all announcements on the ThreeA facebook page, (more info coming soon).

Christmas is going to be quiet and cruisey this year, we've got a stack of reading material all lined up. I love reading about myths and legends and having been surrounded by Chinese culture particularly in the last few years, I've been keeping score of some of their good omens. If you scroll through some of the entries on this blog I mentioned a certain water feature, complete with photo. In order to stop bugs taking it over I put a couple of goldfish in and they're multiplying... so I figure when they're big enough I'm going to bundle the babies, (fry), up in little baggies of water and give them away to friends for good luck in 2015.

All Prints are in the process of shipping, last batch goes out January 2nd, (I'm aiming for sooner), then we're all done.

So that's it for this year folks! Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year, our hearts go out especially to the people of Sydney with all that has occurred this month, stay strong, there are better days ahead.

Some Taiwan Pics

 Ash, Eddy and Me

This is a pic of the much vaunted Batman Burger. I think it's worth pointing out that this was purchased as a novelty and nobody actually ate it. There was some concern that it might send an unwanted Bat signal to someone's pants.

October Update

Bet ya didn't know that Narcissus was actually a cat? Huh? Huh? Welcome to the October update, perhaps I should explain the pic. Ash and I are trying to clean and pretty things up a bit around the studio and this lovely thing appeared. TV garden people would call it a water feature, fancy person calls it a reflective pool and Ash calls it a bird bath. I personally think it looks like some kind of ancient screeing pool, which is kind of cool, currently it's predicting a cat 5 plus Typhoon... note the clouds.

This weekend Three A is showing at the Beast Kingdom show in Taipei, Taiwan. Getting there wasn't so pleasant this time though as there was lots of turbulance due to the presence of clouds spiraling off the Typhoon due to hit Japan any time soon. To all of our friends in Japan, stay safe.

A big shout out and a thankyou to Madames Chen and Chen and to all the people who came to last weekend's expo in Guangzhou, China.

Last week, as some as you may know, was Golden Week and a lot of people in Hong Kong take holidays at that time of year. Ash and I tried to take a couple of days off but we failed miserably. We don't do holidays well, we get easily bored. In my case I've done something stupid to my shoulder and so I ended up in one of those scary MRI machines and told to take it easy. Sitting on my bum doing nothing is super hard and so I bought a book by a popular author and settled in for a good read, (loaded up on anti inflamatories). About a quarter of the way through the author used her main character to say some really meanspirited things about the work of another author. I got mad and lobbed the book across the room, rescrewing my shoulder, yay!

From now on I'm sticking to my Kindle, I would never lob an ipad (too expensive).

In other news: Get well soon Morrissey, you irascible bastard! You were a fixture of our teenage years and the world is not ready to lose you just yet.

Till next time,

T.P

September Update

Wow, where has 2014 gone?

Welcome to the September update! Apologies for missing August but boy were we busy!

We have two ThreeA public events coming up, one in Guangzhou, China and the other is the Taipei Toy Fair in Taiwan. I'll only be blogging Taipei though, Guangzhou will no doubt be covered in full on the Facebook page.

We have two major art events coming up also in 2015, the NYC exhibition at the Jonathan Le Vine gallery (street level - Chelsea NY) and mid way through next year we're going to be hosting a huge exhibition in Tokyo, Japan (more details to come as they become available).

Movie news, again I am muted due to agreements, but sufficeth to say we have dates for at least one project slated, (which is only good news, set to get better).

Ash and I, as always, have been working away and we've noticed a lot of people have been keeping up with the new art only Instagram account, which is awesome. If you haven't joined up already, please consider it as this is probably the best place to see preview images of some of the paintings that will be put up for exhibit in 2015.

I had a chuckle regarding 7174 the other day, I hadn't read the wiki until now and someone has referred to us as an arts "umbrella" organisation. We've been watching through all the Bond movies with our boys and the term made me think of the Spectre organisation. Ash doesn't own a signet ring but we certainly have the cat.

Bond: "Do you expect me to talk?"

Goldfinger: "No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!"

Until next time - stay healthy!

Hello Perth! Supanova Saturday

Have you ever had one of those moments when you turned around and thought... How did this all suddenly get so big? That happened a couple of times today, once when I caught sight of the sheer amount of people that turned out in force for the Supanova Pop Culture convention and twice when I attended the IDW/Ashley Wood panel and just got a real sense of how much work is actually produced by IDW on the whole. We've been with IDW since the start and so I still have that "way back when" feeling about it and then when the entertainment IP lists started coming up on the screen... wow, wow, wow, wow, wow!

IDW also brought along a creator graphic for Ash which listed some 1750 pages of comic art in the stats alongside him and I thought gee - that's just for IDW! As most of you know Ash worked for Marvel and Todd McFarlane and the 2000AD people before that so, I'm almost afraid to count.

Got to say though possibly the funniest moment of today was on the panel when Ash point blank refused to give away the story behind The Beautiful War and then IDW put a graphic of a page featuring a wall. The wall, Ash clarified for the audience, is actually a character in the story, there was just a sea of blank looks after that. Thank you to everyone that attended btw, we really appreciate you taking the time.

For me personally, I'd also like to say thank you. I don't often attend events like this, it was so nice to meet both the IDW and ThreeA fans for the first time today, you actually did better than a lot of people that I've met before on numerous occassions, there were at least three people I hadn't seen for twenty years today who asked me if I was the "new wife", no says I, I'm the original girlfriend, you just forgot.

Thanks to Ted, Chris and all the IDW family, Royd and always as ever the wonderful Miss Sui Yin!

Thank You Sydney!

Thank you to all of those people who attended the Sydney leg of the Supanova Pop Culture Expo, the whole crew had a great time meeting sketching and saying hello. The ThreeA booth was packed all weekend and many attendees had travelled from as far away as New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Phillipines just to catch up with Ash and see the booth.

This week the Supanova show moves on to home turf when the expo opens Friday at the Perth Convention Centre. Once again we will be blogging the Perth show, if you're in Perth come along and say hi to Sui Yin and the gang at the ThreeA booth.

Special thanks to Supanova chief Daniel, Royd (as ever), and Sui Yin.

And don't forget, if you're an artist, writer or creator, stop by at the IDW booth and say hello, show your stuff, be bold and start something.

Sydney Signing Shots Day 2

Here are some photos taken at a signing that is taking place right now. Nice to meet and greet with everyone!!!

Writers, Artists and Creators Re: Supanova Convention

When Ash and I started out in our chosen fields many moons ago, we were hungry and so we did what any two young people could do, we got out there and we shook the tree. No one of any note or clout ever came down to Australia in those days looking for talent to hire, no one. So Ash and I climbed on a plane and went to see those people ourselves.

And whenever anyone Australian talks about our success in life the first thing they say is: "Well they went off to America, what do you expect?"

Right now writers and artists, our publisher Mr. Ted Adams of IDW San Diego is sat in a booth along side the esteemed American editor in chief Mr. Chris Ryall at the Sydney convention, (Perth next week). These two men have approved and edited every successful IDW title we've ever made. Furthermore Mr. Ted Adams is a bone fide film producer who has sold no less than three of those books into motion pictures on our behalf to some of the most celebrated and lauded producers and directors working in Hollywood today. U.S. TV adaptions are also in motion.

That some artists are trading shit, (between city loyalties), on Twitter and are not lined up begging for that leg up that some say is so ellusive that you have to travel all the way to the U.S to get it is beyond me.

Wise up people, time is running out in Sydney, and Perth talent get your showcase ready! If you miss out on meeting the few influential people who actually bother to come down to Australia, you're missing out. Yeah some of us had to go the extra distance and shake the tree, but for some others all you have to do is to show a bit of courage, turn up and shake hands, how easy is that?

Sydney Supanova Preview Shots

It's that time of year again, when the Supanova show rolls into town. This year ThreeA, IDW, Ash and all the gang are attending the Sydney and Perth legs of the tour. Here are some ThreeA booth set up shots. This annual pop culture event starts today at the Sydney Showgrounds, shortly followed by the Perth show next week which will be held at the Perth Convention Center.
